Melbourne: Team India’s young batsman, wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has set a new record in Australia. He holds the record for most runs scored in 25 consecutive innings on that ground. Former England batsman Wally Hammond, Parsi Indian Rusi Surti and Windies legend Vivian Richards have previously scored against the Kangaroos.On the other hand, Pant, who has been playing for Team India since 2018, played 4 Tests in the last Aussie tour.
He scored 25, 28, 36, 30, 39, 33, 159 * respectively. This made Pant (350) the highest run scorer for India after Pujara (521). It was against this backdrop that he was selected for the second Test, having not played the first Test on the latest tour.
